1 passport-size photo (35 x 45 mm)

Photo shops near the office can make them for ~NPR 250 if needed

Bank statement showing ≥ USD 10,000

Screenshot or PDF — have it accessible offline on your phone

SafetyWing / Nomad Insurance certificate

Shows medical coverage in Nepal + extendable to ≥ 6 months from today

NPR cash — equivalent of USD 160

You'll pay at the immigration bank counter in Nepali rupees

Extra NPR for transport, photocopies, extra photos

At the Office

Step by step

Arrive — Room 001, Ground Floor

Dept. of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu

At the counter — request the 5-year reciprocity visa

Be explicit: you want this, NOT a regular extension (see script below)

Pay USD 160 (NPR) at bank counter

They'll direct you to the bank window inside the building. Get the bank voucher.

Submit all documents at visa counter

Passport + photo + bank statement + insurance certificate + bank voucher

Biometrics (fingerprints + photo)

Ask what time to come back for pickup

Usually ~2 hours. Confirm exact time before you leave.

SAY THIS AT THE COUNTER

"I am a US citizen and I would like the 5-year multiple-entry tourist reciprocity visa, not just a regular extension."

IF THEY ASK ABOUT INSURANCE DATES

"The policy is extendable through December 2026 — you can see that stated on the certificate."

You're free to leave after submitting. Go grab food, explore — come back at the time they gave you.

Validity period is 5 years

Start and end dates are correct

Your name and passport number are correct

150-day rule: Even with the 5-year visa, you can stay a maximum of 150 days per calendar year. The counter resets every January 1st.
